Red-ruffed lemur

This island displays two different varieties of lemurs: red-ruffed lemurs and white-fronted lemurs. All lemurs are classified as endangered and the red-ruffed lemur is now listed as critically endangered on the 2000 red list. You may wish to consider helping to fund one of Madagascar Fauna Group's programs in to help out these beautiful animals. The zoo currently donates five percent of all toy plush monkeys to lemur conservation in the wild -- so if you purchase a plush monkey in the gift shop for $10.00, the zoo donates fifty cents of that to the Madagascar Fauna Group. (This program was instituted without raising gift shop prices.)
