Conservation

To protect animals in the wild, the zoo cooperates with and helps fund programs orchestrated through respected conservation organizations. When you host an event in the zoo, you will increase our conservation impact as the zoo donates 5% of the event fee to one of the three following groups. All of them are highly rated for their fiscal responsibility and effectiveness. (Learn more about the zoo's conservation programs.)

National Wildlife Federation

Founded in 1936, NWF has connected generations of Americans with nature. From their award winning magazines like Ranger Rick and National Wildlife to hands-on nature programs, NWF works with everyone to find effective, common-sense solutions for a brighter tomorrow for nature, wildife, and people.

Madagascar Fauna Group
The MFG was created at the request of the government in Madagascar to help them save their extraordinary wildlife. Over 8 out of 10 plants and animals on this island nation can be found nowhere else including the beautiful lemur family. The MFG is an international consortium of zoos and related institutions working together to conserve this spectacular wildlife and the wild places where they live.

Wildlife Conservation Society
Since 1895, WCS efforts have led to the protection of hundreds of millions of acres of wild habitat. They are now at work in hundreds of projects in over 50 nations conducted by the largest scientific staff of any U.S. based international conservation group.

Their scientists have pioneered studies from William Beebe's underwater explorations in the 1930s to George Schaller's groundbreaking research on gorillas, tigers, lions, and pandas.
