The zoo supports conservation outside the wild through educational
presentations and information
for visitors. To maintain longterm genetic diversity, Caribbean Gardens
is a member of the International Species Information System (ISIS),
a database containing information on over 1.6 million zoological animals
of approximately 10,000 species in nearly 600 institutions in 72 countries
on 6 continents.
In cooperation with other accredited zoos, ISIS information and Population
Management Plans along with the Species Survival Plan®
match the best animals for breeding .
Caribbean Gardens is also involved in international projects to protect
rare animals and critical habitat in their native lands. From rainforest
education in Peru to saving the last tigers in Russia, see the
variety of projects we support.
Caribbean Gardens also donates
a percentage of each corporate event's fee to one of three effective
conservation groups.
